I'm a firm beliver that learning should enrich and excite.
Unfortunately, that can be a challenge with the current pressures of being a student.
Working with students on developing an organized gameplan to achieve their goals so that they can breathe and find confidence and joy in learning is, conversely, a joy to witness.
Further, one of the biggest things that K-12--and even most undergrad education--lacks is dialogue between those in the roles of student and teacher.
I love creating a space for students to find and voice their opinions, concerns, questions, and musings about the things they learn.

Frequently asked questions
How did you get started teaching?
I started tutoring ESOL as a volunteer teacher in the Adult Literacy program at Loudoun Literacy and math and chemistry through a pre-professional health honor society. I loved it so much that I decided to move into general private tutoring!
What types of students have you worked with?
Throughout my 5+ years of experience, I have worked with adults learning English as a second language, middle and high school students preparing for the SAT/PSAT, students writing college admissions essays, undergraduates studying English, and students seeking support in their general k-12 coursework.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Spend some time reflecting what teaching styles have worked well for you in the past. Make sure your teacher is a good personal fit--do you leave feeling more confident? excited about the subject? I believe that learning should be a wholly enriching process, not just a means to an end.
